I thought it would be a good idea to post one of my early “bear” photos. I’ve come a long way and learned a lot since this shoot with Paul, but this was important in my development as a photographer of men. When I came out (relatively late in life) I quickly found and identified with the bear community in London. I found it welcoming and was more at ease with a more relaxed approach to perfection in the male body. I’m attracted to “men” so that’s what I wanted to photograph. Paul is an archetypal bear and beautiful man. Very sexy indeed. Paul was one of the first models I shot using the studio setup that became part of my signature style.
